(AP) — From iPods to navigation systems, some of today’s hottest gadgets are landing on store shelves with some unwanted extras from the factory: pre-installed viruses that steal passwords, open doors for hackers and make computers spew spam.
Computer consultant Jerry Askew says a digital photo frame tried to infect his computer with four viruses.

Opinion — The other day, Wal-Mart let it slip that it would no longer be selling Linux-powered […]

Greetings,

Hi All,
It seems that once again, there is more bad news about M$ Vi$ta.
Microsoft has published a list of programs that will not work or that will suffer from reduced functionality after the installation of Vista Service Pack 1.
The list of programs consists mostly of security applications, such as Trend Micro Internet Security 2008. However, programs […]

Hi All,
For those not familiar with the Firefox Web Browser here is some news!
The almost-but-not-quite-final beta of Firefox 3 (FF3 beta 4) is now available for download. The most noticeable improvement is speed. In some tests, it’s three times faster than Firefox 2 (meaning the test completes in 1/3 the time), and a whopping five […]

Sweeney: There are many overpriced computers out there. It’s like sports cars. They are everywhere, everybody writes about them, but there are only a few who can afford them. There isn’t a great amount of people that will spend large amounts of money on that. In the case of PCs, they mostly don’t deliver that […]

Hi All,
Here’s a real Linux Hero reporting:
It’s old news by now. CompUSA is out of bid’ness. While there are a number of reasons for this, one of them should be obvious. They stubbornly held onto their loyalty to Microsoft. Now, it’s no secret that I made an enemy of CompUSA years ago. I was “strongly […]

I ran SuSe from 9.0 through SLED. The relationship with M$ made me go away.
I’d seen too many restrictions. The corporate world is too restrictive regarding Linux, and all those open source applications. I’m not sure, if someone is trying to cash in, but I am having fun!
